1. Scope

This policy covers the personal information Compute Cheap Inc., 2261 Market Street, San Francisco, CA 94114 ("Compute Cheap"), collects through compute.cheap, our capacity request form, and our customer dashboard. It does not cover Customer Data (the models, workloads, and data you run on reserved capacity), which is addressed in our terms of service.

2. Information we collect

Information you provide. When you submit a capacity request, we collect your name, work email, company, desired start date, a description of your workload, and any notes you add. When you sign in to the customer dashboard, our authentication provider (Clerk) manages your credentials on our behalf.

Information collected automatically. On our public pages (the homepage, blog, docs, pricing, and the capacity request and sign-up pages), we use PostHog to record page views, clicks and other interactions, how far you scroll, which page you came from, campaign parameters (such as UTM tags), errors, web performance metrics, and your approximate location (such as your country), derived from your IP address. This does not run in the signed-in customer dashboard or on the sign-in page.

3. Analytics and session recordings

We use PostHog, a product analytics tool, on the public pages described above. On those pages it records clicks, builds heatmaps, and detects rage clicks and dead clicks (clicks that do nothing), so we can find confusing pages and broken flows. We do not run on-site surveys. PostHog also records a masked version of your session on those pages (the sign-up form is left out entirely), including messages the page writes to the browser console, for the same purpose. Every input field is masked in these recordings, including the name, email, company, and workload fields on the capacity request form, so what you type is never captured.

We keep referrer and campaign attribution (such as which search term or ad brought you to the site) so we can tell which channels work, but we strip advertising click identifiers (like gclid or fbclid) before they reach analytics. Analytics uses a first-party cookie and local storage to recognize a returning browser. It is anonymous: it does not run in the customer dashboard, and we do not link analytics data to your name, email address, or account. If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, PostHog does not record your visit.

When you submit a capacity request, we send analytics a record that a request happened along with the GPU type and capacity mode you chose. Your name, email, company, and workload description are never sent to analytics — they go only to our database, to fulfill your request.

4. How we use your information

We use the information above to:

  • Review your capacity request and confirm availability.
  • Contact you about your request, your reservation, or your account.
  • Operate, secure, and improve the website and the request process.
  • Meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations.

5. How we share information

We share personal information with the service providers that help us run Compute Cheap, each bound by their own data protection obligations:

  • Our database provider, to store and process capacity requests.
  • Our authentication provider, to manage dashboard sign-in.
  • Our analytics provider, as described above.

We do not sell personal information. We may disclose it if required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Compute Cheap, our customers, or others.

6. Data retention

We retain capacity request information for as long as needed to respond to it, deliver any resulting reservation, and meet our legal and accounting obligations. Analytics data is retained according to our analytics provider's standard retention period. You can ask us to delete your information at any time; see Your rights below.

7. Security

We apply access controls, encryption in transit, and monitoring across the systems that handle capacity requests and dashboard access. Session recordings mask every form input, as described above.

Compute Cheap is pursuing SOC 2 Type II certification. We'll update this page and our status page once that certification is complete.

8. Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop using it for a particular purpose, by emailing hello@compute.cheap. We will respond within a reasonable time, and in any case within the period required by applicable law.

9. International use

Compute Cheap operates in the United States and the European Union. If you are located outside the region where your information is processed, it may be transferred internationally, with appropriate safeguards where required by law.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If a change is material, we'll notify you by email or with a notice on this page before it takes effect.
